The Gentlemans Frock Coat
The typical flamboyant open-style jacket of the 1700s, has all the exageration of the big look of that century - big pocket flaps with buttons, big cuffs with buttons, lots of swing in the coat from 2 side and back pleats....and all the look of elegance of ivory damask commonly used in their fashion in that century.
- All the button carriers have been hand appliqued;
-
The jacket has 2 side pleats, one pleat in the back (with either side of the back pleat);
-
The buttons are gilt (will vary upon availability)
-
The jacket is calf length;
-
The jacket is totally washable and requires minimal ironing

I have especially designed this dress:
(1) for any adjustment that may be required in the bodice, and to
(2) reverse the front panel and have different underskirts for a 2-look dress.
The close-fitting, partially interfaced, lined bodice has princess seams (the mid section is reversible), with attached gathered over skirt and has separate gathered under skirt.
(1) The bodice and over skirt
- I have heavily lined the bodice so as to give maximum comfort without boning.
- The front panel has closings on either side which can be adjusted in or out. The front panel is also reversible. You can change your underskirts also..you can have a completely different look - or match your mid section to your partners coat or vest.
(2) The skirt
- The underskirt of ivory satin is pull-on with elastic waist for adjusting.
-
- The skirt has enough fullness for your under petticoats and pannier .
